The supervisory board just rises and runs less than a year, but Facebook says it has trouble following group recommendations. The company said he wanted to work with the Supervisory Board to “improve the process of recommendation,” although it is unclear what the change is needed. But suggest Facebook want to shake the way he deals with the independent body he created to oversee the content policy.

In a new report detailing Facebook transactions with surveillance boards, the company noted that it made a significant change as a result of the recommendation of the Supervisory Board. This change includes updates about how it handles hatred and nudity, and how it determines the content of “Newsworthy”.

But Facebook now suggests you want to change the recommendation process. “While we have made this important change as a result of board recommendations, we believe that the current recommendation process design might not be the best way to realize long-term structural changes, the board encourages us to do,” the company wrote in its report. “We work with our councils and internal teams to explore other ways to potentially improve the recommendation process.”

Again, it is not clear what this means for the supervision board or Facebook relationship with the group. The Supervisory Board did not immediately respond to a comment request, and during a call with reporters on Tuesday, Monika Bickert Facebook refused to describe the specific changes that the company expected.

In the report, Facebook wrote that “the speed and volume of recommendations does not allow us adequate time to assess and implement recommendations.” According to Facebook, most of the Board recommendations “need more than a dozen people to assess feasibility, which we cannot complete in 30 days.” The company added that it could take a long time to determine how to integrate policy suggestions into the development of existing products.

But while it is unclear what will change as a result of “potential change,” which is proposed Facebook, the fact that the company has tried to make major changes to how the transaction with a significant board. From the beginning, Facebook critics had criticized the supervisory board a little more than PR. And while the company said it would comply with individual content decisions made by the Board, broader policy recommendations were where it could have the greatest influence on the company. For example, the Board criticized Facebook’s decision to impose a “infinite suspension” to former President Donald Trump, and told the company that it needed to set the rules for politicians.

Facebook even suggests that other platforms must use surveillance boards to monitor their content policies too. That the company now claims too difficult to follow the executive process and policy officials designed has the potential to damage the influence of the council capable of using.
